Joan Higginbotham - Astronaut

I recently photographed Joan Higginbotham, engineer and former NASA astronaut who served aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery mission STS-116 as a mission specialist. She was the third African-American woman to take part in a space mission.

She spoke to the American Clinical Laboratory Association about her challenges and trailblazing successes.

Every Friday evening during June 2020, an anti-racism vigil has been held along the entire length of 16th Street NW, Washington DC.

These photographs are of my own religious community, Fabrangen, and some members of our host congregation, the Washington Ethical Society

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

I have photographed Justice of the Supreme Court Ruth Bader Ginsburg on several occasions over the years. Here are some portraits I made of her from 1997, 2009, and 2014.

Her  wisdom and lifelong work for equal justice under the law have served our nation most nobly. Blessings on her and her steadfast labors for the rights of all in our society.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi

Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi has again been elected to be the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.

I wish much strength and wisdom to her in this critical position of national leadership.

I made these photographs of her on assignment a couple of years ago.

RIP Nancy Wilson

Rest in Peace and Power Nancy Wilson. I photographed the great jazz artist in her hotel suite in Washington DC about a dozen years ago.

She was quite an amazing person, who brought passion and truth to all who heard her sing.
She will be missed.

Rezility- portraits at Edgewood Commons, DC

These portraits of residents and volunteers at Edgewood Commons in NE Washington DC are my personal outtakes from an assignment covering Rezility, a free app developed through Enterprise Community Partners.

"Rezility is the first free, personalized, socially-powered app that connects people to opportunity and empowers them to engage, connect and thrive in their communities to build stable, secure futures for themselves and their families."

Thank you for this opportunity to Nicole Gudzowsky of Enterprise, the on-site staff of Rezility, and the good people of Edgewood Commons.
