"Just Between Us"

Singer Marilyn Hausfeld will premier her intimate musical cabaret, "Just Between Us" at the JCCNV on September 8th and 9th, 2012. The show, with musical direction by Alex Rybeck, will be presented in New York City later in the fall.

I had a terrific time working with Marilyn, along with makeup artist extraordinary Geri Falek, to create the publicity images for the show.

Folk arts | Virginia Foundation for the Humanities

These photographs of Virginia folk artists were made at a recent fundraiser for the Virginia Foundation for the Humanities. Among the artists featured (and depicted here) were Caribbean Carnival dancers and float makers, old time mountain musicians, Mongolian traditional art and dancers, Guatemalan dancers and sawdust carpet makers, Virginia Indian dancers, from among a number of others from our state who performed. Thanks to the good folks at VFH for the opportunity to attend and share in this celebration of our ongoing cultural streams.

CCNV mural | progress part three

We're nearly done! Further progress was made on the mural we've been creating inside the CCNV homeless shelter in Washington DC. Thanks again to Randy Bacon and Dan Oberler of the DCJCC Behrend Builders, and the folks from the Mitzvah Makers crew who cheerfully and ably helped paint this go-round.

Painters for this session were: Mandy Kaisen Blueth, Glynis Smith, Naomi Goldstein, Joan Winer, Staci Smith, Danielle Clemons, Rosie Rodney, Cheryl Busch, Audrey Horn, Gillian Kagin, Rebecca Goldstein, Ruth Stromberg, and yours truly.

DC buildings (more American Investigations)

These are NOT from the world of the Federal theme park that visitors know as DC... (with a shout out to the real-deal memories and music of Gil-Scott Heron and Chuck Brown, the Godfather of Go Go).

Donna Summer

I photographed Donna Summer in January 1999. She was in DC as a spokeswoman for cervical cancer awareness.

I recall that she was lovely, humble, and gracious.

RIP Ms. Summers, may your spirit soar as far as the heights your music took us.
