Lived experience ( in memory and love)

I recently photographed these tattoos, which were inked in memory of a loved one who lost their life to suicide.

They were made while on assignment for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention, a caring and effective group "dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide."

Vigil in Support of Refugees – Remembering the St. Louis

These images are from a vigil near the US Capitol commemorating the fateful voyage of the ship Saint Louis, filled with 900 Jewish refugees fleeing Nazi terror, which was turned back from American shores to Nazi Europe on June 6th, 1939. The vigil was organized by HIAS, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society, in memory of that event, and in support of refugees in our current situation.

Congresspersons Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC), Deborah Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), and Brad Schneider (D-IL) spoke to the vigil, and Rabbis David Shneyer and Chuck Feinberg led prayers and songs.

I am proud of my community for standing up for this issue.

Never again.
