Eritrean refugee family

I photographed this family, who are recently-arrived refugees from Eritrea.

I made the photographs as a gift to them, part of the outreach and support given to them by my congregation, Fabrangen. We were introduced to the family by and are working under the guidance of ECDC, the Ethiopian Community Development Council, which is a noted and effective refugee resettlement agency.

They are industrious warm people, who we welcome to our diverse community.

Out of respect for the family's privacy, I have not given their names.

Jerusalem Stories- update/portraits

Here are recently-made film scans of Jewish and Palestinian portraits I made in East and West Jerusalem for potential inclusion in the book project "Jerusalem Stories," that I have been working on with writer Carol Grosman. The book will be published by Wesleyan University Press.

Pictured are Amos Ephriam, Nomi Gutenmacher with her daughters, Gabriel Khano with his wife Delia and granddaughter Lucy, and Miriam Gonczarka.
