Emma in Lion Mask- The Sun magazine cover

A photograph I made many years ago, of my daughter Emma wearing a lion mask, is about to grace the August cover of my favorite literary and photography magazine, The Sun.

Check The Sun out. It's arrival every month is a special pleasure; like having a treasured old, funny, wise, and funky friend come by for a visit.

Danish music-group "gnags" used the same picture on a cover in 2000!

Great picture. And the funny thing is I 'discovered' the use of the photo from Homeland, and a few days ago saw the same photo on the cover from the danish music group Gnags. Then I started to wonder what kind of icon-photo this was. Thanks to google I found the true story.

The photo was also used by the Make-A-Wish Foundation and on the cover of Ms. Magazine (a partially colorized version) both in the 1990's. I have always appreciated this image. I was working on a grant from the Arlington (VA) Commission for the Arts on a project called "One Kid, One Kid" when it was created. Sometimes things just align and one can recognize, see, and hold on... Some images from this set are in the collection of the Corcoran museum, in DEC.
