Over 130 fiber artists created pieces for the "yarn bomb" wrapping numerous trees and fences in the Rosslyn area of Arlington, Virginia, many adjoining the Artisphere arts center.
I documented the day on assignment for the Rosslyn BID.
Further coverage of the day is available on the Clarendon Patch.
My thanks to Lisa Rabasca and Cecilia Cassidy of the BID.
This is more of what peace looks like...

Downtown Seder
I was at the City Winery in New York City for their annual Downtown Seder.
I was a guest of performer Frank London, whose trio rang out "Go Down Moses." Other performers depicted here included Lou Reed (of Velvet Underground notoriety), composer Philip Glass, and Neshama Carlebach. There were lots more; a thoughtful, provocative, meaningful - and fun - way to prepare for and begin celebrating our annual ritual of rejoicing at the outgoing from slavery.

Green Valley Pharmacy | Dr. Muse (from the vaults)
Green Valley Pharmacy, in the Nauck section of Arlington, was recently designated as an historic landmark by Arlington County.
Pharmacist Dr. Leonard Muse started the business in 1952, during the era of segregation. At 89 years old, he still runs the business.
This photograph was made in 1980, as part of the Arlington Photographic Documentary Project. I was guided at the time by the late John Robinson, the caring and industrious Green Valley community activist.
