Israelis & Palestinians | schools & the street

These recently-scanned images are from 2002 and 2003, most in and around Jerusalem. Several were made at the Hand-In-Hand School, where both Jewish and Arab students attend. Others were made at a Palestinian community center, another school in Jerusalem, and on the city's streets.
These pictures are from the series Jerusalem: Walls and Bridges, done in collaboration with writer/storyteller Carol Grosman and Jerusalem Stories. A film, exhibition, and book are in process.

These four buildings are along 12th Street NE, in the Brookland area of Washington, DC.

American Investigations | Hovermale's

Hovermales ice cream is at 9011 Livingston Road, Fort Washington, Maryland. Real old school soft ice cream place, just off Indian Head Highway a couple of miles south of the Beltway. This place is as indigenous to the DC area as half-smokes and mumbo sauce.

Reminds me of my old haunt, the fabled but long-gone Frozen Dairy Bar , z'l, on Route 50 in Falls Church, Virginia.

Portrait of Marjorie Stromberg | wedding kiss

I made this portrait the day before Marjorie's wedding to Sean Miller.

The kiss transpired immediately after their ketubah was signed.

I had the privilege of being an official witness to sign the ketubah.
