Roy Lewis | Acumen Magazine cover portrait

ACUMEN magazine's current cover story is on the great Black photographer Roy Lewis. The cover photo and an inside spread are my portraits of Roy, an old friend and colleague. At 83, he's still very active and creating vital new work.

Roy's a national treasure.

Thank you to Acumen's publisher Dr. Shantella Sherman for this opportunity, and for her and her team's committed in-depth work exploring and presenting Black history and culture.

Robbin Kapsalis and Vintage#18

I recently photographed Robbin Kapsalis and Vintage#18 ( https://www.vintage18.net ), a powerhouse blues, soul, and roots music ensemble.

The band is: Robbin Kapsalis - lead vocals; Bill Holter - Guitar; Alex Kuldell - Drums; Mark Chandler - bass.

Great band. Check them out.

Thanks especially to Shelley White of  Amalgamated Clothing ( https://www.amalgamated-clothing.com ) for her help with props and threads - and the excellent location.
