Quarantine Diary 43 | Halloween

My neighborhood in Arlington, Glencarlyn, came up with a smart safe and fun system for celebrating Halloween during the pandemic. Ruth and I had fun, and it seems the kids did, too.

While there were fewer trick-or-treaters out than usual, we still had about fifty little ghosts, ghouls, clowns, imps, ninjas, planets, and princesses and the like pay us a visit.

A merry spooky time was had by all. Boo!

Quarantine Diary 34 | Old Town Alexandria

Quarantine Diary 34. Ruth and I spent a happy day wandering along the Potomac River waterfront and in Old Town, Alexandria VA.

As my old friend and former mayor of the city, the honorable Allison Silberberg puts it "Alexandria is a national treasure."

The only downside was a few pro-Tr*mpf people observing a boat rally on the river. They seemed both odd and dispirited. They were certainly vastly outnumbered by the happy and diverse folks strolling by.

We had a lovely day. A blessing.

Quarantine Diary 28 part two | Ruth and I have a picnic at the Rose Garden

A quiet day out, at one of our favorite places, the rose garden in Arlington's Bon Air Park, and the adjoining sun garden.

Peace in this crazy time.

I love my dear Ruth.

Quarantine Diary 25 | Anti-racism vigil on 16th Street NW DC, part two (Fabrangen)

Every Friday evening during June 2020, an anti-racism vigil has been held along the entire length of 16th Street NW, Washington DC.

These photographs are of my own religious community, Fabrangen, and some members of our host congregation, the Washington Ethical Society.

It is said that  יהוה can be heard in the sound of the shofar blast.

Black Lives Matter.
