NO FEAR: A Rally in Solidarity with the Jewish People

No Fear: A Rally in Solidarity with the Jewish People was held on the west lawn of the US. Capitol. A modest-sized but strong-voiced crowd demonstrated their pride in being Jewish, and spoke out forcefully against the recent surge in anti-Semitic incidents in the United States and abroad.

Speakers were from a wide spectrum of political and religious expression, presenting a united front against anti-Jewish elements that have arisen on both the left and right.  Speakers included Elisha Wiesel, son of the late Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel; Alma Hernandez, Arizona State Representative; Joshua Washington, Executive Director of Institute for Black Solidarity with Israel,  Rabbi Jeffrey Myers of the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh PA, which suffered fatal attacks; Rabbi David Saperstein, activist and U.S. Ambassador at Large for International Religious Freedom; Rabbi Shlomo Noginski, recently stabbed in Boston for being a Jew; former Senator  Norm Coleman, Chairman, Republican Jewish Committee; former Congressman Ron Klein, Chair, Jewish Democratic Council of America; author and television host Meghan McCain; Rev. Jimmie Hawkins of the NAACP,  Imam Talib Shareef, President and Imam, Masjid Muhammad, The Nation’s Mosque, and others.

Thanks to David Holzel of Washington Jewish Week for the assignment.
