Chef Jose Andres

I had the opportunity to photograph Chef Jose Andres, the distinguished chef and humanitarian. He was visiting food distribution programs and speaking to culinary arts students at the Universities at Shady Grove. Montgomery County, Maryland proclaimed it "Jose Andres Day."

Through his organization, World Central Kitchen, teams of volunteers have provided food and other assistance to thousands made needy by natural and man-made disasters. Inspiring, and effective.

FYI: He had just thrown out the first pitch at the World Series the night before, which is why he wore a Nationals baseball cap.

Plus, he's a really nice guy.

Thanks to the good folks at USG for the assignment.

Also- he tied my shoe. Amusing, amazing, kind, and humble. (He has more energy than a box of happily sugar-buzzed pre-schoolers)

Photo by Michelle Whittaker of Manna Food. Many thanks!
