Detail of a bulldozer's shovel

A detail of a construction vehicle's shovel; from an ongoing project I am doing on assignment covering the Folger Shakespeare Library's renovation.

Yeah, sometimes my work is all over the map, but the universe and the mind have possibilities that approach infinity.

And infinity is interesting.

Quarantine Diary 50 | Lake Fairfax walk in winter

Ruth and I took a walk together around Lake Fairfax Park, near Reston, Virginia. It was briskly cold, with clarifying winter light.

It is a favorite place of ours.

D25|EDCJCC volunteer effort 2020

The Edlovitch DCJCC (the Washington DC Jewish Community Center) had to adapt its annual D25 volunteer day this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of going to shelters, food kitchens, old age homes, community centers, and the like to provide direct services to those who are in need on Christmas Day, it arranged to have people package and deliver meal kits for distribution to those who are experiencing food insecurity.

The photographs were made at the JCC of both the pickup and delivery of the food.

Thank you to editor David Holzel of Washington Jewish Week, to the hard-working Sonya Weisburd of the EDCJCC volunteer/social action program, and especially to my wonderful partner Ruth Stromberg, who took down caption material, and along with me also prepared and delivered the food.
