First crocuses - Leap Day 2016

These crocuses just bloomed in my garden.

A cheerful sign after this cold snowy winter.

Thelma Lane, 103 years old

Thelma Lane is 103 years old, born in July 1912 on a farm near Leesburg, Virginia. She was a cook for much of her working life. She prepared meals for John F. Kennedy, and was best known for her corn bread. She proudly still cooks her own food.

She has lived in Washington DC most of her life, and believes people should show respect and courtesy to one another.

This portrait is made as part of a series on our community's seniors I am doing in collaboration with TERRIFIC Inc.
