A few images generated largely in-camera, then altered in postproduction.
The photographs are of leading biomedical engineers and scientists at the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE)'s annual conference in Washington DC.
A stunning gathering of some of the world's most accomplished and cutting-edge researchers.

Green Valley Pharmacy | Dr. Muse (from the vaults)
Green Valley Pharmacy, in the Nauck section of Arlington, was recently designated as an historic landmark by Arlington County.
Pharmacist Dr. Leonard Muse started the business in 1952, during the era of segregation. At 89 years old, he still runs the business.
This photograph was made in 1980, as part of the Arlington Photographic Documentary Project. I was guided at the time by the late John Robinson, the caring and industrious Green Valley community activist.
