Li'l Cindy Shrine

There was a particularly heartbreaking murder last week in DC. Cynthia Grey ("Li'l Cindy"), 17,was gunned down in front of her home on Benning Rd. NE. She saved her infant godson by hiding him under a car as the killer began firing. She was by all accounts a positive, decent young woman, uninvolved in gang or other illegal behavior. Relatives, friends, & neighbors erected this shrine, the first I have seen clearly calling for an end to violence, and free of gang symbols or piles of liquor bottles.

Sad.

Research- Childrens Research Institute

I have been working on a report for the Children's Research Institute, part of Childrens National Medical Center in Washington DC. I am fascinated by the process - and appearance - of science in progress. Probing for truth.

Montgomery County Fair

This annual fair, just 15 miles from Washington DC, has managed to keep its rural roots. Ruth and I went this weekend. I am quite partial to the pig races.
