MLK Day of Service / Arlington VA

I photographed Volunteer Arlington's Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, held at Washington-Liberty High School. Well over one thousand people showed up to help raise up the community in his spirit and to provide goods and services to the needy. There were also conversations sharing personal stories and perspectives in the hope of bringing people together over issues of race, inclusion, and equity.

Long-time community activist Saundra Green was honored with the inaugural "Beloved Community" award for her years of service to Arlington in the spirit of Dr. King's legacy.

Thank you to Lisa Fikes of LeadershipArlington for the assignment and to Jen Roeder for coordinating my (and everyone else's) efforts.
