D25 | EDCJCC volunteer effort 2021

I have been covering the Edlavitch DC Jewish Community Center's annual D25 Christmas Day volunteer activities every year since 1991.

Even though the continued COVID-19 pandemic curtailed many activities this year, a number of charitable programs were able to be supported both in-person and through socially-distanced volunteering.

A note: Because Christmas this year is on a Saturday, the Jewish Sabbath, the volunteering all took place on Christmas Eve, the day before the Christian holiday.

With my dear partner Ruth Stromberg taking caption notes, I documented a number of the sites supported in DC: Seabury Resources for the Aging, Father McKenna Center, the EDCJCC, Catholic Charities' Mulumba House, and one of So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E.)'s centers.

A family celebration with four generations.

The Empress of Chanukah, Martha Katz, still reigns, with joy, generosity & light.
