The National Council of Jewish Women sponsored a large gathering, The Jewish Rally for Abortion Justice, in the shadow of the US Capitol to demonstrate for the rights of women to make choices about their own bodies and destinies, especially in light of the recent Supreme Court challenges to Roe v. Wade.
Scores of Jewish organizations including Hadassah, Hillel, the Union for Reform Judaism, the Anti-Defamation League, the Masorti Movement, T'ruah, Jewish Community Relations Council, J Street, and many many congregations, foundations, and Jewish women's groups were co-sponsors and participated.
Numerous elected officials spoke, including Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Senator Richard Bumenthal; (D-CT), Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-HI), Re. Jan Shakowsky (D-IL), and Debbie Wasserman-Shultz (D-FL), along with artists, numerous organization leaders, and rabbis.
