This is this year's publicity postcard of my recent work.

Operation Understanding DC- Class 25 | workshop

Class XXV of Operation Understanding DC (OUDC) met for their first workshop over the Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend. This group's mission is to " build a generation of Black and Jewish community leaders who promote respect, understanding, and cooperation while working to eradicate racism, anti-Semitism and all forms of discrimination."

There were numerous sessions, including one led by former SNCC (Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee) civil rights movement veteran and labor activist, Larry Rubin.

This is a worthy organization, who are actively learning to build a wiser fairer future for themselves and our society.

I have been documenting OUDC since its inception, for over twenty five years.

Snow and light in the neighborhood

A bright sunny day in the neighborhood, after Ruth and I shoveled snow.

Moving Day- Lillian and Albert Small Capital Jewish Museum

The Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington's museum was moved for the second time to a permanent home. It was carefully conveyed a through the street a couple of blocks down Third Street NW in Washington DC. The building was the first synagogue in the District, the former home of the Adas Israel Congregation. It was moved many years ago from its original site serve as a local Jewish museum. Now it has travelled again. It will be significantly expanded to serve a wider mission, with new facilities to come.

Speakers included Rabbi Aaron Alexander of Adas Israel, Rabbi Lauren Holtzblatt of Adas Israel Congregation, DC US Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, DC City Councilmember Jack Evans, DC City Councilmember Elissa Silverman, chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities John Parrish Peede, members of the Small family, and Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington executive director Kara Blond.

It was quite a day.

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg

I have photographed Justice of the Supreme Court Ruth Bader Ginsburg on several occasions over the years. Here are some portraits I made of her from 1997, 2009, and 2014.

Her  wisdom and lifelong work for equal justice under the law have served our nation most nobly. Blessings on her and her steadfast labors for the rights of all in our society.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi

Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi has again been elected to be the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives.

I wish much strength and wisdom to her in this critical position of national leadership.
