Reverend Reginald Green, Freedom Rider | Operation Understanding DC

The Reverend Reginald Green, a DC native, was one of the original Freedom Riders during the civil rights movement in the early 1960's. He was on the buses that headed South to work for equal rights, justice, and integration in Mississippi. He was arrested in Mississippi and was imprisoned in the infamous Parchman Farm.

From the book "Breach of Peace:Portraits of the 1961 Mississippi Riders," by Eric Etheridge. Reverend Green's mugshot by the Jackson Mississippi police is on the top row, second from the left.

He spoke to the members of Operation Understanding's Class 21 about his experiences then, and the still needed work he - and they- are doing now.
