Recently published work / The Sun and Sojourners

A photo of mine of a cellblock in the old Baltimore Prison is illustrating an article in the July 2014 issue of the Sun magazine. The photograph was originally made on assignment for AFSCME, the union that represents the corrections officers who work there.

I also have work in the July 2014 issue of Sojourners, documenting the innovative icon painter, Brother Robert Lentz. Brother Lentz's work is both traditional and groundbreaking at the same time. He depicts a wide range of people he finds bearers of sacred light and action, many of whom are not Christian, or are outside of the generally traditional world of Catholic saints (Cesar Chavez, Gandhi, Einstein, Rumi, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr...), though many of these holy men and women of the church are also glowingly depicted in this time-hallowed format. His meticulous craft level, his sincere devotion to the work, and the radiantly meditative beauty of the finished paintings, is deeply moving to me.

Thank you to Brother Lentz, and to art director Ed Spivey of Sojourners, for this opportunity.

Brother Lent'z beautiful work can be seen and purchased (in reproduction) at a reasonable cost through Trinity Stores.
