These photographs were made in support of Restoration Ministries, a Christian organization run by Candace Wheeler in Washington DC. Their mission is to reach out and rehabilitate women caught in the miserable trap of prostitution.
The photographs are not intended to titillate, clearly identify, or in any way degrade or shame these women, but to aid the efforts of Ms. Wheeler and her supporters in their kind and uplifting work.
