Quarantine Diary 53 | Tu B'shvat seder

Ruth and I recently joined in a socially-distanced Tu B'shvat seder, led by our friend Judy Kohn Brown, as part of our havurah at Congregation Beth Emeth.

Tu B'shvat is celebration of the New Year of the Trees. Though of ancient origin, it's observance was promoted by the 16th century kabbalist mystic Yitzhak Luria of Sfat and his followers. Various fruits and both red and white wines are consumed as part of the seder, each imbued with symbolic significance.
