Quarantine Diary 23 - Black Lives Matters -Juneteenth chalk art in Arlington

In celebration of Juneteenth, and in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, a number of neighbors in the Boulevard Manor community in Arlington, Virginia created chalk art messages on their streets, driveway and sidewalks.

Apparently some neighbor called the County's public works department and a crew was sent to power-wash all of the artwork away.

This has caused an uproar in both the neighborhood and in the community, with Arlington County elected representatives making an official apology for this situation.

Thank you to my friend, Lynn Lunger, who alerted me to the news. Her daughter, a recent high school graduate, is pictured here.

New artwork has sprung up on the streets.

Black Lives Matter.
