These are a batch of my favorites. Many more can be seen through the Folger's Facebook site (join and become a fan!).

Big shout out to Garland Scott, Amy Arden, and the irrepressible Mistress of the Revels from the Folger for their help, energy, and confidence in my talents, and to Duy Tran, my talented colleague who most ably covered day one+ in my absence.

The Bard's vision doth yet live.
Joseph Roane
Portrait of Joseph Roane, an African-American farmer/agricultural expert who spent time in the Soviet Union in the 1930's, then returned to the USA. It was made on his farm in south-central Virginia.
This image illustrated a story, "Black in the USSR," for the Washington City Paper, (Vol. 9, #25, June 23, 1989).
The writer was the exceptionally talented Jon Cohen.
One of Mr. Roane's descendants recently contacted me and reminded me of this photograph.
