Quarantine Diary 56 | Deadly virus toll / Purim

The newspaper headline yesterday morning marked a half million deaths from Covid-19 virus in the US; more than the total deaths suffered in combat by our armed forces in World War II, the Korean War, and the War in Vietnam combined.

A very sad statistic. Hopefully the rollout of the vaccines ongoing now will end the pandemic and its tragic toll. Much healing continues to be needed.

The Jewish holiday of Purim is also upon us. Ruth and I made hamantaschen, a traditional celebratory dessert (filled with mohn- sweet poppy seeds), and I got out some groggers (noisemakers) in readiness for the reading of the Megillah of Esther.

Plus a view of a section of my kitchen cabinets.

Reality is... far beyond our capacities of understanding.
